SJPSF awards student scholarships as well as annual grants directly to teachers to use in their classrooms to fund projects, purchases, and initiatives that are not covered by the district general fund.
The St. Joseph Public Schools Foundation works closely with administrators, teachers, students and parents to identify and fund projects that enrich the educational environment for our teachers and students.
The St. Joseph Public Schools have a long history, having celebrated its
175th birthday in 2013. The St. Joseph Public Schools Foundation has
been part of that history since 1996. Changes in school funding that
occurred in Michigan in 1993 with the passage of proposition A
necessitated the need to find supplemental funding for school districts
throughout Michigan. The contents of this report describe how the
SJPS Foundation fills that need, with the support of our donors, for the
St. Joseph Public Schools.
It’s not enough to dream...you have to DREAM BIG! Each of you is important to our success as a foundation. Our donors make it possible to deliver a world class experience every day for our students.
I am attending University of Pittsburgh in the fall to study medicine. The Foundation's support played a big part in the excellent education I received here.
The District works closely with the Foundation to identify projects that benefit the most students. I am grateful for their commitment to public education and their hard work to secure donations that give our district an academic edge.
93% of donations received by the SJPS Foundation are donated back to the district to fund programs for SJPS students. We are very proud of that statistic.
We donate because the Foundation improves the academic life of its students. We have seen first-hand the benefits our own children have received.
The Foundation supports teachers in so many ways. Our grant for Take Home Math Bags for kindergarten families has made a big impact.
